Abstract
This investigation was base on the study of 6 psychiatric inpatients with anorexia nervosa who had admitted at depart. of neuropsychiatry Hanyang University Hospital from 1978 to 1985. Diagnosis was by DSM-111 criteria
The results were as follows; for their clinical onset, common age was from 15 to 20 years. old, most patients have developed less than 25 years
The etiologic factors seemed to be, as pursuit of thinness (3 cases), dying in familial member(1 case), conflict to male friend(l case), rape(1 case), and unknown(l case).
Among patient¢¥s family, 5 cases were broken family bacause their father had the pathologic problems due to battering behavior to wife and child, butterfly, early death and get. away. But only 1 mother had the pathologic problem that was psychosomatic disorder.
So family problem, especially father¢¥s problem, were related to the etiological factor of anorexia nervosa.
These results suggest that there are some psychodynamic correlation between anorexia nervosa and family problem in etiology. Upon the base of above findings, more extensive studies for anorexia nervosa were thought to be necessary.
